down & dirty
The 2010 Merrell Down & Dirty Mud Run was awesome! There were so many fun aspects to the event, minus my inability to run uphills. By the first 1/4 mile, you were covered in mud. Spectacular! The professions were on site taking pics of the challenges, but until then ... enjoy these!

if you want to destroy my sweater
Finally updated the Droid cell phone case! AND I LOVE IT... regardless that someone told me it looked like an argyle sweater threw up. Come on, it's cheap, it's obnoxious, it's green, and it's argyle!!!!
Also, on another note, new fav song of the day: Temper Trap's Sweet Disposition

rules are meant to be broken
I have exactly 6 days to come up with a cool costume for my Down and Dirty Mud Run next sunday which proceeds go to help Operation Gratitude to keep up the spirits of our troops overseas
Guidelines say:
Think you’ve got what it takes to wow the crowd? Well then put your creativity to the test by suiting up for the Merrell Down & Dirty Costume Contest! Cash prizes will be awarded to the top 3 costumes as voted on by YOU, the crowd on race morning. Break out those wigs, wings, make-up and get ready to strut your stuff! First place wins $500, Second place wins $250 and Third place wins $100! An additional prize of $150 will be awarded to the best locally themed costume - starting in Los Angeles where the appropriate theme is, of course, “Hollywood”! For all you Spidermen, Marilyn Monroes or John Waynes get ready to strike a pose and walk away with a great prize. We can’t wait to see what you come up with!
So far my best options have been spray paint myself as an Oscar, make leg holsters and go as Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, or wear my wet suit and be scuba steve!
Any thoughts??

sweet darlin'
As much as it makes me cringe to be called or hear ppl called 'darlin', I love this song. (And wish I could pull off the intensely hot, stoic vibe that Zooey Deschanel can...)
When I was a little bit younger
The strain I was under could make me cry
Now I’m a little bit older,
A little bit bolder
Never so shy
Sweet darlin’, come hold me,
Just a little bit longer now
Sweet darlin’, come hold me,
Just a little bit longer now
When things were a little bit clearer
When you got nearer
I shrugged from your touch
Now that I know what I want, see,
I think that it haunts me,
I want you too much

you can have it, if you want it, anyways
So now that the mega crazy hype has started to calm down about the healthcare bill, I feel like it is safe for me to say that I DON'T GET IT.
I am an over educated person, who tries to keep up with the important moves our government takes, especially when my profession is situated in the heart of it. I have watched the news, read the articles, even tried reading portions of the bill, and I am still lacking to grasp the magnitude of the initiative.
I know that our country deserves healthcare, but I'm not sure that this is the way to do it. Ideally, I think that I am behind a universal healthcare system, but not so much what is going on here. Thankfully there are enough years in between each stage to work out the kinks and amend the draft, but man is it overwhelming. I wish that they would publish an 'Idiots Guide to Healthcare Reform' published by an entirely biased party. I believe that there are good things in the package, but I also know that there are things that I am not behind. It's really difficult to get straight answers ... especially living in CA as a conservative.

what's up doc
Went to the health center today since I had to get an updated TB test placed for my health clearances and decided that while I was in the office I'd make an appearance in front of Doctor McHandsome. I went and talked to him about the insane pain that my jaw is experiencing and how it makes me want to avoid people. So, he kindly did an exam of my jaw -- which was the best part of my day -- then wrote me an Rx for Percocet, a steroid, and a night guard. So here I sit medicated beyond belief and loving the relief that Dr. Skripkus has brought to my life.

what a pain in the ...
So apparently once again I am carrying anxiety in my jaw. Yeah the uncontrollable pain has caused me to blog about how miserable I have been sleeping and that I unknowingly have started to clinch my jaw in my sleep. Same thing happened about 3 weeks before I moved to CA. Maybe it's got something to do with moving? Maybe it's the stress of graduations? Maybe it's the stress of logistics of my life! Either way, I'm really ready for it to stop. It's gotten to the point where it is controlling my mood and affecting my ability to get work done. For instance, last night I started one of my papers... 20 min later I was in bed, medicated and hugging a heat pack. BAaaaAh.
But on another note, I am making good progress on my studies!

that's the life
So since my last post about how I'm going to be an overly studious graduate student from now until April 30th, I have done ..... nothing. (Well, i finished my take home midterm that night, so maybe that counts?) Yesterday I spent an entire afternoon enjoying a birthday gift of a day at Burke Williams spa. It was incredible. I spent the first hour there on a cycle of water, iced towel, and steam room to lemonade and misting room .. then repeat. Somewhere in between the steam and the mist there was a jacuzzi, a shower, and a 20 min nap with the whole cucumber/eye experience, THEN an 80 min 'deluxe' massage. It was a day of heaven. And it was great to not speak to anyone or think about anything for an entire afternoon/night and walk around in just a towel and slippers for 5 hrs.
SO today's agenda is by 10am (7 min from now) I will have my coffee refill in my mug, my music set up, and my kitchen table transformed into a study corral. Ready go!

and if you saw how i dealt
28 days until no more classes. Which means for the next 3 weeks I am going to transform myself into the most studious student ever. Late night note cards, re-reading old class material, and getting a jump on my several assignments. (By jump I mean getting them done by the due dates ... )
So starting ...... after this post .... it's time to put on my graduate school game face and get to business. -- Man that doesn't sound fun -- So I leave you with this ...
